Raya Ann Bugeski McArthur went home to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ on Thursday, January 24, 2019. Raya was born in St. Louis, Missouri on March 25, 1950 and was adopted by Walter and Adele Johns Bugeski. Raya grew up in St. Augustine, Florida, graduating from St. Augustine High School in 1968. Raya attended the University of Florida where she pledged and was initiated into Kappa Alpha Theta. Raya graduated from Florida Junior College with a degree in nursing and became a registered nurse in 1972. Raya's nursing career included labor and delivery at the former University Hospital in Jacksonville, emergency room at St. Vincent's Medical Center, and office practice for W. Lanier Pearce, M.D. Raya then went into homecare, serving as a field nurse and administrator in several homecare agencies in Jacksonville. In addition to nursing, Raya had a passion for volunteer work and service to others. Raya served on and was a member on many service oriented boards and commissions. In 1984, Raya had the honor and privilege of serving as the president of the Junior League of Jacksonville. As a result of her volunteer service, Raya was named as one of the Florida Times Union's 1989 EVE Award finalist in 1989. Raya Married Neill Wade McArthur, Jr. on November 18, 1978. They had a loving, fun, fantastic and exciting marriage for over 40 years. A s a result of that marriage, they had a son, Neill Wade McArthur, III. Raya is survived by her husband, Neill, her son Wade (Scarlett) and two precious grandsons, Neill Wade McArthur, IV and Fortson Lee. Raya is also survived by her sister Charlene Bugeski Bunnell (Doug), of St. Augustine, niece Alyson Miller (David), of Lakeland, Florida, niece Ashley Livingston (Chris), of Dallas, Texas, three grand nieces and two grand nephews. A memorial service celebrating Raya's life will be held at the Ortega United Methodist Church, 4807 Roosevelt Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida, at 11:00 AM on February 1, 2019, with reception to follow.
