

DEJONG - Richard Henry DeJong, Jr. (Bud) born 1930 in Chicago, IL. Longtime resident of Jacksonville, he was a loving husband\ father\brother, avid sports enthusiast and golfer. He attended Coe College before transferring to and graduating from the Engineering Program at the University of Iowa. Served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War before transferring to the Army Reserve where he served until 1957. He retired as an Engineer from the Jacksonville Naval Air Station. Predeceased by his wife, Marlene Loy (1995). Bud is survived by his sisters Norma J. Leichtweis and Betty Ann Folsom, his children Linda L. Webb, Pamela S. DeJong, Cindy D. Graham, Susan R. Kelly, Richard H. DeJong, III, Renee' L. Morrell and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Viewing will be Tuesday, July 29th from 6pm to 8pm with the funeral service Wednesday, July 30th at ll:00am. Both viewing and funeral to be held at THE EDGEWOOD CHAPEL of Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 729 S. Edgewood Ave. Jacksonville, FL 32210 (904-388-2711). Graveside service with military honors to be held at Riverside Memorial Cemetery 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205. Reception for friends and family will be held at Hyde Park Golf Club 6439 Hyde Grove Ave. Jacksonville, FL 32210 immediately following the graveside service. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or your favorite charity. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of The Edgewood Chapel of Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home.
