

Dick is survived by his devoted wife, June; son, Gary; grandchildren, Nicole, Lauren, and Scott; and great-grandchildren, Evan, Jackson, Krista and Chloe. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Herlina Tice of Buffalo, New York.
Dick was born July 9, 1931 in Buffalo, New York. He married June, his high school sweetheart, in 1951, welcoming their only son into their home in 1954. Dick was a 24 year Navy career officer, stationed at various bases up and down the Eastern seaboard. He also made several tours aboard aircraft carriers in the Mediterranean Sea and Southeast Asia during the Vietnam conflict. After retiring, he received his Bachelor’s Degree in logistics and transportation from the University of North Florida in 1979 and pursued a second career in aircraft maintenance. Dick returned to Jacksonville in 1994 to retire and be near his growing family. He is remembered as a kind, gentle and patient husband, father and son. He was a parishioner of Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church, where his services will be held.
There will be a viewing on Monday, May 11th from 5 - 7pm, at the Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel, 4801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 12th at 11 am at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, 11730 Old St Augustine Rd, Jacksonville, followed by a procession to Oaklawn Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with full military honors. There will be a reception at a local restaurant following the service where everyone is welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.
