Dear Rosemary,
Much, much love.  The two of you helped raise me and gave me a view of what it might be like to live in a rectory; a model for vocation.  You are remember often in love.  I will include my former rector and bishop and his bride  in our prayer this Sunday, 9/12/12.  Moray Peoples

Rosemary please know I am deeply sorry for your loss. Bob was one of the rare people in life that leave such an impact that his memory lives on.

"Bishop Bob" was a good friend and wise counselor and confessor to many - including the Kennan family. He truly cared for his church and all the challenges it entailed. The world is clearly a better place for his having been in it.

May he rest in peace and may we carry on his rich legacy of Christian caring.

I am so very sad for your loss... Bob spread such unique  love, laughter, and warmth as he shepherded his flock! Bishop Atkinson will live forever in the hearts of those of us fortunate enough to have heard him teach. He was an amazingly rare and special individual and will be deeply missed.

When Bishop Atkinson came to Christ Episcopal Church in Charlottesville, he was God's instrument of healing for us. I will never forget his guiding hand in a rocky period in our history. To God be the glory.

I am very sorry and sad to hear of the passing of Bishop Bob. He was a good bishop to work with in West Virginia.  And he always had a smile on his face every time I ran into him throughout the church.

Sorry for your loss.   May you find comfort in all the good memories as you go through your healing process.     You are in my prayers.  God Bless you.

Rosemary, Anne, Rip, and Amy,
  We are filled with sorrow at Bishop Bob's passing, but also filled with thankfulness for his life and how he touched ours.  We can truly say he directed the course of our lives, from pairing us at a counselor training, to encouraging John to attend Seminary.  We have too many memories to share here, but I have one picture of Bishop Bob that is my favorite --  floating in the pool at Peterkin, laughing up at us as we prepared to "Bomb the Bishop."  What a great guy!  You are in our thoughts and prayers.
