

Robert (Bob) Mitchell Hoskinson, age 87 passed away on Monday, September 5, 2022 at St. Catherine's Laboure (Hospice). Robert was born January 25, 1935 in Jacksonville, Florida to Cyril and Thelma Hoskinson. He was the baby of five children.
Robert joined the Army after graduating from Robert E. Lee High School in 1954. He joined the Army in 1954. After leaving the military he began working at Southern Bell in 1956 where he was a staff manager retiring in 1987. During his Southern Bell career he joined the Pioneers and was President from 1985-1986. He continued as a member of the Pioneers until his death.
Robert was married to Ina McBurnett for 53 years. Robert was a very active man with many hobbies and interests. For many years he bowled and even scored a perfect 300 game. His favored hobby was woodworking. He built a large workshop in the backyard and built everything from large to small items. His family and friends only had to mention something they would like built and it was done. Both he and his wife retired from AT&T in 1987. After retirement they created B&I Crafts. Robert volunteered with the Pioneers and helped with many large projects, including working with Habitat.
In addition, Robert loved to fish. He learned to throw a cast net from his brother in law, but truly loved fresh water fishing from his boat. Robert bought a 1967 Ford pick-up truck which he named Ol' Blue, which is currently in his garage.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his brother, Jack; and sisters Ethel, Joyce, and Carol. He is survived by his loving nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Buddy.
A visitation for Bob will be held Saturday, September 10, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Hardage - Giddens Greenlawn Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4300 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207. A funeral service will occur following the visitation at 11:00 AM with Michael Winczewski officiating. A committal service will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, followed by a reception.
