Robert Lewis Harris

Robert Lewis Harris, affectionately known as "Bob," passed away peacefully on July 15, 2026, at the age of 78. He lived a life defined by service, adventure, curiosity, and an unwavering love for family and friends.

Bob proudly served his country in the United States Navy, including service during the Vietnam War. He retired as a Chief Petty Officer and Aviation Electrician after a distinguished military career marked by dedication, leadership, and technical excellence.

Following his retirement from the Navy, Bob embarked on a successful second career in corporate education and professional training. He shared his knowledge and passion for learning with organizations including American Express, Blue Cross, Barclays Bank, and Philip Morris. He also taught a variety of professional development courses at the University of North Florida (UNF) and the University of Central Florida (UCF), where he inspired countless students and professionals.

Outside of his professional accomplishments, Bob embraced life with boundless enthusiasm. He found joy in the outdoors—whether fishing, kayaking, cycling, taking long walks, or discovering new places. His adventurous spirit led him to travel extensively throughout North, Central, and South America, Europe, and Asia. A lifelong lover of the sea, Bob cherished more than 50 cruises shared with family and friends, creating memories that will be treasured for generations.

Above all, Bob was a devoted father, loving partner, loyal friend, and someone who genuinely enjoyed connecting with people. His infectious sense of humor, warm personality, generous heart, and zest for life made everyone around him feel welcome. He had an extraordinary ability to turn strangers into friends and every gathering into an occasion filled with laughter.

Bob is survived by his three sons, Paul, Michael, and Peter; his four beloved granddaughters, Alex, Gabby, Sydney and Katie; the mother of his children, Marty Harris; his longtime partner, Joan Alewine; and many extended family members and dear friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.

Bob's legacy lives on in the values he instilled, the lives he touched, and the countless adventures he inspired. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his service, his kindness, his humor, and his enduring love of life.
