Robert Eugene Hill (73), died peacefully in his sleep on December 31, 2020. He was predeceased by his parents William C. and Eloise F. Hill. He is survived by his sister Andrea (Jake) Pennell, daughter Jill Hill, son William E. “Bill” Hill, a granddaughter, three grandsons and many other family and friends. Mr. Hill was a native and lifelong resident of Jacksonville and attended Jackson High School. He had been a member of Duval Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Morocco Temple Shrine fraternal groups. He also enjoyed construction and building, where he could use the many trade skills he had learned from his father. As he grew up working in his parents’ family businesses, Atlas Oil and Gas Companies, in the northeast Springfield area, he earned and maintained necessary local and state professional licenses for all aspects of the businesses, including L.P. Gas, for nearly 30 years, as the companies expanded in size and scope. Later, Mr. Hill operated his own heating, A/C and gas repair service until health issues caused him to retire. Before failing health curtailed his activities, Mr. Hill had enjoyed an extended RV tour of our western states, national parks and historic sites. Through the years to follow, he always enjoyed sharing with others many memories of his work, travel and experiences. A memorial service will be held in his honor on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Hardage-Giddens Greenlawn Funeral Home, 4300 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32207 beginning at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate in his memory to your local hospice or a favorite charity.

My Condolences to Andrea, Jill and Bill. Robert was a Great Man and I know that he will be missed. He was my cousin for almost 69 years. Though we didn’t see each other much because of careers and having our Families and distance, I have some fond memories of Robert. The last time we talked about a year ago he still had a BB in his finger when I shot him while we shot at each other playing in the woods. One day at Kingsley Lake while he and your mother were dating, we were on the dock he asked me if I could swim, I said no. He said. You’re going to learn! He pushed me off into the deep part. I learned quickly. I didn’t know she was under the dock if I needed help. Remember him for being funny and wanting to have fun.

Dear Robert,
I couldn't fit all that I wanted to say here, so I borrowed these words from another...

You left this world of sorrow
And are free from pain and harm,
And now rest in peace and comfort
In the blessed Savior's arms.
God saw the road was getting rough,
The hills too hard to climb,
He gently closed those loving eyes,
And whispered "Peace be thine."
The hours and the days of pain,
The sleepless nights have passed,
The ever patient, worn out frame
Has found sweet rest at last.

Jake and I will always remember the good times we shared with you and all of our combined families and friends over the years.
