Robert Gregory "Greg" Nolan, 59, passed away on September 21, 2026, in Jacksonville, Florida. Born in Jacksonville on August 9, 1967, Greg was known for his kind eyes, his great smile, and his caring heart. He was a dependable and true friend, brother, son, cousin, uncle, nephew, but above all else, a father who was endlessly proud of his children. In his later years, he faced significant health challenges, surrounded by the love of those who knew him.
Greg attended Trinity Christian Academy and Edward H. White High School, where he played baseball, football, and ran cross country and track. He studied psychology at Florida State College at Jacksonville and the University of North Florida. He worked multiple jobs for most of his life, including years at The Home Depot, UPS, CAC, McKesson, Citibank, and Jax Ice, yet he always made time for his children.
His four children were his pride and joy. When his son Kyle took up hockey, a sport Greg had never played, Greg immersed himself in learning it so he could help Kyle improve and help coach off the ice. That devotion grew into years of service to youth sports and hockey communities, including time as president of the North Florida Hockey Association. His daughters Maddie and Emily played many sports growing up, and while Greg coached their soccer teams, he also cheered them on at every other sporting event. He was also active in the YMCA Indian Princesses alongside his daughters, including their annual camping trips. He spent much of his life driving his children from one practice, game, and event to the next, always making the most of every moment with them.
Greg was raised in the Christian faith, and as an adult he became Catholic and a devoted member of the St. Joseph’s Parish. Here, he completed RCIA and raised his family while his children attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School. He gave generously of his time through the Knights of Columbus, the Men's Club, CRHP, the annual Fall Festival, and the annual garage sale.
Greg was a lifelong sports enthusiast. He loved NASCAR, especially Terry Labonte; baseball, with Nolan Ryan and the Houston Astros as favorites; and football, cheering on the Miami Hurricanes and the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was a passionate photographer who loved capturing memories, and he was often seen in one of his Hawaiian polos. He enjoyed listening to 1010 XL sports radio, classic rock stations, and music by Mark Schultz.
Greg was preceded in death by his father, Robert Nolan. He is survived by his four children, Bree, Kyle, Maddie, and Emily; his mother, Margaret Meyers; his brothers, Michael and Jeff; and so many other loving family members and friends.
Greg has been cremated, and a Rite of Christian Burial outside of Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Historic Church, 4124 Loretto Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32223, on Monday, October 12th at 10 AM. This is a service of prayer, scripture, and remembrance in which family and friends gather to commend Greg to God's care and to celebrate his life. All who knew and loved Greg are warmly welcome to attend, regardless of faith or church background.
