

Robert “Bob” Palmer was born 7/30/1931, in Rockdale, N.Y. He was peacefully sent to his eternal home on 1/3/2025 following a short stay at the Morris Center- Community Hospice of Northeast Florida in Jacksonville, FL., at the age of 93. He was the beloved son of Niles and Doris Palmer.
Following his graduation from Mt. Upton High School in 1949, he joined the United States Marine Corps. Bob served for four years during the Korean War, rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant. He spent most of his military service stationed in Yokosuka, Japan. Following his military service, Bob was employed in the field of oil and gas distribution. He spent most of his career with Parish Oil in Parish, N.Y.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Gladys. Bob and Gladys raised their family in Camillus, N.Y. Following his retirement, Bob and Gladys relocated to Jacksonville, FL in 1999. Bob is survived by his daughter and his son-in-law Susan and Scott Silliman of Jacksonville FL, and by his son and his daughter-in-law Michael and Sandra Palmer of Camillus, N.Y. In addition, he is survived by three brothers and a sister-in-law (Jimmy, Irving, Richard and Lola). He also leaves behind eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews; all of whom adored him and respected his folksy wisdom. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Jr., two sisters (Eleanor, Barbara), one brother (Marvin).
Those who knew Bob will remember him for his wonderful sense of humor, his kind nature, and his willingness to lend a helping hand to neighbors, friends, and family members. He had an ability to make a positive connection with anyone that he interacted with, thereby leaving a lasting positive impact on all who crossed his path.
The Memorial Service to intern the ashes of Robert Palmer, and to honor his life, will be held on February 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Hardage Giddens Oaklawn Chapel, 4801 San Jose Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32207.
