Robert M. Tickel, age 89, passed away on October 26, 2024 in Saint Johns, Florida. He was the youngest of six children, born to John and Ellen Tickel of Plant City, Florida. A devout man of God, he was an active member of the Methodist Church his entire life. He is predeceased by his parents, as well as siblings Mary Shuman, Maybel Hires, Edna Barton, Amos Tickel, Grace Yancey, and son, James Richard Tickel.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-five years, Sandra, daughters Carol Tickel and Amy Rait (Jeff), and two grandchildren, Samantha Tickel and Robert Rait.
Robert was employed by GTE Corporation in Tampa Florida for thirty-nine years, where he held various positions from working as a member of the construction crew, to data processing, and as systems analyst engineer. He received a Person Best Award twice for providing outstanding customer service. Robert was the embodiment of kindness to all he came in contact with.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 25th at 10:00 AM at Westminster Woods on Julington Creek in Jacksonville.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Robert.
