Roberta Diane Beckwith, age 87, passed away on March 14, 2023.
Roberta Diane Mansfield Beckwith was born on March 19th, 1935, in Memphis, TN to Lt. Col. William Adrian and Doris Tallis Mansfield. Before settling back in Elmira, NY, her family traveled much of the United States as her Father served in the United States Army in WWI and oversaw many Civilian Conservation Corps projects thereafter. After graduating from high school, she moved to Jacksonville, Fla. and began working for Prudential Insurance. It was around that time she met the love of her life, Judd “Bo” Beckwith. They were married on September 16th, 1955. She was an active volunteer at Baptist Hospital Downtown for many years and alongside her husband, Bo, was active with the Greater Jacksonville Open and the Tournament Players Championship. She was a lifetime member of the Ponte Vedra Inn and Club, Epping Forest Yacht Club, and San Jose Country Club. Roberta loved plants, flowers, and animals no matter how big or small. She had a gentle and caring spirit and always greeted her family and friends with a warm hug and big smile.
Roberta is preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Judd “Bo” DuPont Beckwith, her parents, Lt. Col. William Adrian Mansfield and Doris Tallis Mansfield, and her sister, Barbara Adrienne Paredes Leupold.
She is survived by her Children, Judd “Chip” DuPont Beckwith, Jr., Richard Noble Beckwith, Sr., Suzanne Beckwith Haley (Kent), Sister, Norma Hansen, Grandchildren, Justin Lee Haley, Lauren Ann Beckwith Squillacote (Steven), Kimberly Haley Hawkins (Michael), Richard Noble Beckwith, Jr. (Emily), Judd DuPont Beckwith, III. (Julie), Step-Grandchildren, Taylor Charles Stewart, and Victoria Jean Stewart, 5 Great-Grandchildren, Brother-in-Law, Henry Hopkins Beckwith, Sr. (Madeleine), and many loving Nieces, Nephews and extended family members.
A graveside service will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery in Jacksonville on March 22nd at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the charity of your choice.
