Born in Paterson, NJ, Roger grew up in Midland Park NJ with his brother George and his sister Sharon, who passed away in 2006. He attended Eastern Christian School in Wyckoff, NJ and graduated from Empire State University and the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University. A banker by profession, he started his banking career in the mail room, and worked his way up the ranks serving many roles across numerous banks in New York and New Jersey before retiring in 2008 as the President and CEO of Lakeland Band, NJ.
Roger was also involved in many charity and volunteer groups including Habitat for Humanity, the American Red Cross, Chilton Hospital and serving different roles at church, most recently as elder at Christ Church Presbyterian in Jacksonville, FL. His passion for serving others also extended beyond the states as he was actively involved in the ministry of Gethsemane Garden Christian Centre, a Christian boarding school located on Mfangano Island in Kenya where children receive a holistic Christian education and the love, nourishment, and care they need to thrive.
Roger was an avid runner, participating in numerous races including the Philadelphia Half Marathon and the Gate River run in Jacksonville, running it for the last time 4 years ago just shy of his 80th birthday. He also enjoyed his time on the golf course, whether it was playing with his weekly group from church or with his family. Roger’s favorite place was up in the Adirondack Mountains in NY. Growing up visiting Camp of the Woods and later purchasing a lake house in Lake Pleasant NY where he passed the time entertaining his grandkids, “reading” a book on the porch and taking sunset cruises on the water. He will be dearly missed.
