I am penning this remembrance as I will be out of town and unable to attend Roger's memorial service.

If there was a phrase to describe Roger, it would be "ubiquitous presence."

If there was a business or social event in and around town you could count on Roger being there. He and I first met at Speed Networking and later we did Chamber of Commerce socials, attended his hosted Honey-Do luncheons, dined together at the old University Club, shared meals in his dinner club group, attended his annual Christmas gala house party, and saw each other at countless other events.

He was a connector, always seeking to enlarge his network of friends. And he made many, many friends and always tried to introduce like-minded individuals together. Today have many good friends in this town solely on account of Roger's introductions. And for that I am grateful.

And Roger's dear wife, Sally, was the perfect foil to him. She was quiet, demure and always smiling. Sally has endured several personal tragedies before and I again offer her peace and strength during these trying times.

Fair winds and following seas, my friend, you will be missed.

Roger was a very energetic and outgoing person. I admired his drive and enjoyed speaking with him on numerous occasions. I always saw his worth and I know that he will be missed in many circles. May he rest in peace and revel on in spirit much like the genuine and down to earth person that he was to all of us. MH

I knew Roger from the Jax Chamber, for at least 10 years. He was always kind to me, and went out of his way to introduce me to others, invite me to his monthly lunch meetings, and he would even "talk up" my business and my book. And it was by no means just me. He did this for so many people. It was just his way of sharing and caring and being. I just saw him on July 31, and his last Facebook post on August 1st was a photo that he included me in. I'm still a bit stunned by this. Rest in peace, Roger, and sincere condolences to his family and friends.
