He was preceded in death by his father Francis Smith and mother Zeffie Smith.
Roger attended University of North Florida and received his Bachelor’s degree. He retired from JEA after 20 years as an instrument technician. He began a second career at Maxwell House and retired after 22 years. He also served in the Naval Reserves for four years. He was a member at Lakewood United Methodist Church. Roger was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. A man of few words, his greatest love was his family.
Survivors include his best friend and loving wife of 54 years Carole, a son Roger Smith Jr. (Stacie) of Asheville, NC, a daughter Amy Smith of Jacksonville, three grandchildren Trey, Mason and Jade, two sisters Joan Painter (Roger) of Jacksonville and Linda Yarbrough (Jay) of Thomson, GA.
A private service will be held for immediate family on Friday September 24th, 2021 at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel 4801 San Jose Blvd.
