Ronald was born to Sanston M. and Lillie Mae Foster on August 22, 1943, as the second of seven children. He attended Baltimore City public schools and graduated in 1961 from Paul Lawrence Dunbar high school in Baltimore, MD. After high school, he began service to his country in the United States Marine Corps and is a veteran of the Vietnam War.
Ronald began his corporate career at CSX Transportation (formerly known as B&O Railroad) starting as a yard crew worker. While working in the Baltimore office, a mutual friend introduced him to who would be the love of his life, Linda. And from this union, they had two beautiful daughters. Throughout his 37-year career with CSX, which included a transfer to Jacksonville, FL, he remained a faithful employee until retiring as the Director of Fleet Management. Following Ronald’s retirement, he was called upon to serve as a Transportation Consultant for Conrad Yelvington Railroad in Daytona Beach, Florida.
A talented tennis player and teacher who taught his daughters and other relatives. He greatly enjoyed watching and playing golf and he also ran in multiple Jacksonville 5k’s and marathons. Ronald’s true passions lay in the quiet serenity of fishing. It started early with the many trips around Maryland and Delaware with his father and brothers. He also enjoyed the rich world of classical music. Italian arias were his preferred escape, and Luciano Pavarotti was his absolute favorite.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Sanston and Lillie Mae Foster, brothers, Sanston Jr., Edwin, Carl, and sister, Brenda. Ronald leaves to mourn, his wife, Elder Linda Foster, daughters, Mariel and Marla Foster and granddaughter, Annmarie. He also leaves siblings, Sharon and Norman Foster, nieces, Allyson Ingram (Stephen), Lauren Lofton (Bryan) and Carla Foster. Nephews Michael Anderson (Crystal), Robert Anderson (Jennifer), Donald Ross and Aaron Foster and a host of great-nieces, great- nephews, cousins, and friends.
The portrait of this life reveals a beautiful picture of the love of God and how he works to produce what we could never imagine.
