Prior to retirement Mr. Gainey was a truck driver for many years. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Patricia Gainey; 3 sons, Ronald Elkin Gainey Jr. of Jacksonville, FL, Patrick Lamar Gainey (Stacey) of Jacksonville, FL and Jonathan Paul Gainey (Staci) of Oklahoma; three brothers, Amos, Lewis and Dana Gainey; three sisters, Linda, Mae and Connie and four brothers in law, Mac, Russell, Ernest and Gene and four sisters in law, Bootsie, Jeanie, Bobbi and Linda and 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hardage-Giddens Greenlawn Funeral Home.
