

Rose Marie Knop, 96, passed away on Monday, December 27, at Southlake Nursing Home, Jacksonville. She was born on July 27, 1914, in New York, NY to the late Edmond A. Wybaillie and Rose M. (Knop) Wybaillie. Rose served in the United States Navy as a Yeoman Third Class, and was a WWII Veteran. She worked as a Key Punch Supervisor at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Rose was a member of the National WAVE organization in New York, and she enjoyed cooking, reading, sewing, and traveling. She is survived by her daughter, Carol R. Hassett and her husband Patrick of Jacksonville; her 4 grandchildren, Janet Popp, Kenneth (Nellie) Hassett, Lawrence (Miriam) Hassett, and Barbara (Jean-Pierre) Comeau; and her 7 great-grandchildren, Jacob & Emily Comeau, Cameron & Brandon Popp and Sean, Conner, & Isabella Hassett. Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Harold “Chubby” Knop; her brother, Edmond Wybaillie; and her sister, Ruth Lucia. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 30, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin, 11801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville. Funeral Services will be at 7:00 pm on Thursday December 30, in the Funeral Home chapel. Burial will take place at 9:00 am, Friday, December 31, at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd., Jacksonville.
