

Ross Harry Morgan, Jr., 89, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on December 28, 2014 after a brief illness. Morgan, known to friends and family as “JR,” was born in Youngstown Ohio to Roscoe Harry Morgan, Sr. and Elizabeth Kamerer Morgan on October 10, 1925.
JR arrived in North Florida as a youth where he settled, married and raised a family of five children. During World War II JR served as a private first class with the US Army 17th Airborne Division. He was wounded at the Battle of the Bulge on January 4th, 1945 and for his sacrifice received the Purple Heart.
He went on to spend 62 years as a dental laboratory technician in Jacksonville, Florida. JR was an avid sport fisherman, attentive gardener and loving family man.
JR was devoted to his wife of 66 years, Lorraine Neustadtl Morgan who survives him along with his four children; Gordon Morgan, Darnell Babbit(Jim), Betty Carantza(Pete), and James Morgan(Char) . JR was preceded into Heaven by his son Ross Harry Morgan, III. JR was blessed with four grandchildren; Ross Babbit (Lisa) Alex Carantza, Jessica Stevenson(Nick) and Joshua Morgan, and was delighted to welcome two great-grandsons into the world before his passing; Leonidas and Nicholas Stevenson, His beloved sisters, Betty Roberts and Jean Weeks, also survive JR.
Memorial and burial services for JR Morgan will be held Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 11am at Greenlawn Cemetery, 4300 Beach Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida.
The family thanks friends who have expressed sympathy for JR’s loss and requests no flowers or donations.
Those who love him remember JR Morgan as a deeply caring, generous, honest and proud man. May his memory be eternal.
