Roy Hubbard, 83, passed away September 28, 2011. He was born February 14, 1928 in Deland, FL. Roy was a native Floridian and was raised in Jacksonville. He proudly served his country during WWII in the US Navy. Roy retired from the City of Jacksonville Tax Collector’s office. He was a lifetime member of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, a member of the Duval Masonic Lodge for over 50 years and an honorary member of the Quarterback Club. Roy is survived by his wife, Rebecca Peeples; his children: Karen Kirby (Larry), Scott Hubbard (Jean), Neil Hubbard and Glenn Hubbard; 2 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister Dessie Earle and brother Robert Hubbard (Louise).
The family will receive friends 5-7pm Friday, September 30 at Greenlawn Chapel, 4300 Beach Blvd. Services will be held 11am Saturday, October 1 at Peace Presbyterian Church, 2300 Southside Blvd. with Pastor Mark Lemmenes presiding.
The family suggests donations be made to Community Hospice of NE Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Rd. or Peace Presbyterian Church.
