It is with great sadness that the family of Ruby J. Martinez announce her passing on August 13, 2020, she was 75. Ruby was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was also a wonderful caregiver, looking after her grandchildren who affectionately called her Grammy or Yaya. Ruby was born on December 21, 1943 in the town of Attalla, Alabama. She moved to Jacksonville, Florida shortly thereafter and was raised in Mandarin. As a devoted military wife, she lived all over the country with stations in Florida, Texas, Illinois, California, and Hawaii. In her early years she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the Labor and Delivery ward. She later worked as a lab technician studying histology. After her time in healthcare, she supported her family as a homemaker. Ruby loved listening to Elvis Presley, watching her Soap Operas, shopping, and of course her family.
Ruby was preceded in death by her mother Agnes, father Howard, granddaughter Rebeccah, and husband Ben. She is survived by her three children Deborah, Amy, and Tony, as well as her four grandchildren Brandon, Emily, Benjamin and Lilly.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Friday, August 21, 2020 at St. Joseph's Historic Old Church, 4214 Loretto Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32223, followed by interment at Mandarin Cemetery.
