

Ruby (Ann) Milstead Parmenter, born in Bristol, FL, January 23, 1937 to George Washington Milstead and Julia Kate (Thagard) Milstead. Ann was raised in Port St. Joe, FL and moved to Jacksonville, FL when she was eleven years old. She attended Ruth N. Upson Grammar School, John Gorrie Jr. High School and the Robert E. Lee High School Class of 1955.
Ann was a past State President of the Florida Peace Officers Ladies Auxiliary, past President of the Lake Shore Women’s Club, Den Mother and Brownie Troop Leader, had a championship Cheerleading Squad for the Cedar Hills Athletic Association, and she was an avid participant for her three children in the Parents and Teachers Association. Ann was also a member of Wesconnett Chapter #247 Order of the Eastern Star and a marksman shooter in the Florida Peace Officers Association.
Ann’s hobbies were making and collecting dolls. Her doll collection with over 6,000 dolls and shoe collection with over 2,000 shoes were featured in a Florida Times Union article, July 2009. She also enjoyed sewing, painting, flower arranging, and many other crafts.
Ann was predeceased by her parents George and Julia Milstead, brother John E. Milstead, grandparents John & Ruby Milstead, and Dr.Edgar K. and Anne (MacCallister) Thagard.
Ann leaves her loving husband of more than fifty-nine years James Lester Parmenter, Jacksonville, FL, their son Andy Parmenter (Betty) of Gainesville, FL, son Danny Parmenter (Deborah) of Green Cove Springs, FL, and daughter Leslie Blackburn of Atlantic Beach, FL. Ann was Nana to six grandchildren, Julie and Sarah Parmenter of Gainesville, FL, Danielle Parmenter of Jacksonville, FL., Dylan Parmenter of Tampa, FL., and Cameron and Julia Kate Blackburn of Atlantic Beach, FL.
Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 5753 Blanding Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32244 is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held at the Hardage-Giddens Funeral Chapel from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 18, 2013. The Memorial Service will be held at Westside Baptist Church, 7775 Herlong Road, Jacksonville, FL 32210. Pastor Ray Mayfield will conduct the service at 12:00 noon on Saturday, October 19, 2013. A Graveside Service by Pastor Mayfield will follow at Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd. (south side of Normandy Blvd.), Jacksonville, FL 32205 at 1:00 p.m.
