Salvatore, known as Sal to his friends and family, was born on May 5, 1948 and raised in the Bronx, NY. He met and married Marie LaTorre in 1972 in Long Island, NY and spent the next 40 years building a life and a family to be proud of. Sal and Marie moved to Jacksonville in 1989 where they raised two children and six beautiful grandchildren. Sal spent 22 years in sales, but found his true calling later in his life: Teaching. In 2008, Sal began teaching at the Heritage Institute and he spent the past 5 years sharing the wisdom and experience that he had acquired and trying to help his students find the same kind of success in life that he had found. Sal was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, Boston Celtics, and the Dallas Cowboys throughout his life.
Salvatore is predeceased by his father, Salvatore Sr. He leaves behind his wife of 40 years, Marie; his mother, Lena; his son, Christopher (Kim) of Jacksonville, FL; his daughter, Amanda (William) Mitchell of Tega Cay, SC;
and six beautiful grandchildren, Marissa, Macy, Robert, Michael, Cooper, and Riley.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2013 from noon until the time of service at 2:00 pm at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel, 4801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32207.
Fr. Jim Boddie will officiate. Memorials in his name may be directed to the American Heart Association.
