Samuel Rollin Burney, 86, passed away peacefully Friday, February 2, 2018 at Terrace of Jacksonville Care Facility. He was born February 27, 1931 and was a lifelong resident of Mandarin. As one of the remaining oldest black residents of Mandarin, he will be truly missed by all who knew him.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Loretto Rd.
He is survived by a son, Trent Mosley, two granddaughters, Kayla and LeTrenna Mosley, Nieces, Earlene Burney Garrison (Johnny), Eloyce Burney, Kimberly Stockton (Charles), Shiryl Hosley Holmes (Larry) and Tracy Burney Hollis, nephews, Stanley Burney and Gregory Latimer, best friend Joe Walsh; also a host of other devoted relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 am on Thursday, February 8, 2018 in St. Joseph's Catholic Church 11757 Old St. Augustine Rd. Jacksonville, FL 32258, followed by interment in Lofton Cemetery Westberry Rd. Jacksonville, FL 32223.
