Samuel Paul Shaver, Jr., age 70, passed away on May 5, 2018. He was born April 8, 1948 in New Orleans, LA, the son of Samuel Sr. and Annetta Walsh Shaver.
Sam was employed in New Orleans, LA with D.H. Holmes for twenty-four years. He worked in Des Moines, IA at Saks (Younkers) for thirteen years. The last twelve years, Sam served as President of Crystal Clear Pool Supply, DBA Pinch A Penny in Florida. He was owner and operator along with his wife Karen for the Jacksonville Beach and Ponte Vedra Beach Pinch A Penny locations.
Sam’s favorite way to spend time was with his children and grandchildren, golfing and boating. He loved fast cars. He was a passionate fan of the New Orleans Saints. He loved corresponding and meeting up with his friends of sixty years, the “Broadmoor Bombers”. Sam was a seasoned traveler spending time in countries all over the world. Sam was a generous supporter of the local athletics along with his grandchildren’s schools and clubs.
Sam Shaver enjoyed 48 ½ years of marriage to his beloved wife, Karen LeBoeuf Shaver. He is survived by his sons, Sam III, Michael, Jeffrey (Amanda), Robert Shaver (Angie); grandchildren, Kaylee, Avery, Max, Drake, and Adeline Shaver along with step-grandchildren, Tyler Kendrick, Ethan, Abigail, and Alyssa Cisneros.
He is also survived by his sister, Sandra Shaver (Pat); his brother, Robert Shaver; half-brother, Thomas Shaver; stepsister, Adele Ladner and stepbrother, Steve Zito (Christi) and brother-in-law, Ralph LeBoeuf Jr. (Cindee). Additionally, Sam’s other family members include his mother-in-Law, Hortense Bauer LeBoeuf along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Sam is preceded in death by his mother, father and father-in-law, Ralph LeBoeuf Sr.
Visitation in Jacksonville, FL will be held Tuesday, May 8 from 6-9 p.m. in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin.
Services will be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home in New Orleans, LA with Visitation Friday, May 11 from 4-8 p.m., Saturday, May 12 Visitation at 10 a.m. with Mass to follow at 11 a.m., and Entombment at 12 p.m. in All Saints Mausoleum.

I found out today that Sam had died several months ago. My husband and I were customers for many years. Sam was always a kind and considerate business owner. He will be missed. Prayers for his family and friends.

We had lots of fun playing and teaching Sam how to play Pennies from Heaven and sharing meals at the local community bank. We will always remember the laughs and your smile.
