Sarah Goolsby Clegg Dillon, 98, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away May 20, 2018. She was a graduate of Georgia Southern University, then Georgia State Teachers College in the 1940's. Mrs. Dillon taught 3rd grade for over 25 years in the Duval County School System. She was an avid golfer at San Jose Country Club, winning or placing in multiple women’s tournaments over the years. Mrs. Dillon was born March 4, 1920 in Naylor, Georgia. The daughter of William Lester Goolsby and Maud Formyduval Goolsby.
Mrs. Dillon is survived by her daughter Sarah “Sally” Patch of Jacksonville, FL, granddaughter Amanda Patch of Jacksonville, FL, and her brother James Armlin Goolsby of Naylor, Georgia. In addition, two very dear and devoted friends Patricia Rouselle and Victoria Barber, both of Jacksonville, Florida. Mrs. Dillon was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, John T. Clegg, and her second husband of 8 years, Richard O. Dillon. Also predeceased by three brothers, Ethridge Duval Goolsby, Robert Preston Goolsby and Hudson Duval Goolsby.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Hardage-Giddens, The Oaklawn Chapel. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. The family requests in lieu of flowers contributions to Community Hospice, 4266 Sunbeam Rd., Jacksonville, FL, 32257.
