Scarlet was born on November 27, 1941 in Maryville, TN. After graduating high school, Scarlet moved to the big city of Washington, D.C. where she became a secretary for the Department of the Navy. It is here where she met her husband. They and their only child lived in Springfield, VA. for 25 years. In 1990, the Zahers moved to Jacksonville, FL and Scarlet took a job with the City of Jacksonville, first with the Domestic Violence division of the clerk of courts and then the Real Estate Division of Public Works as an Executive Secretary, where she worked until her retirement in 2021. She was an avid reader and bowler, bowling on many leagues throughout the years. She also loved doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, going to casinos, playing cards, and watching game shows. She was a member of the Molaka Club of Jacksonville for over 30 years. She was a kind and gentle lady who never had a mean word to say about anyone and will be remembered for her bright smile and gentle demeanor.
Scarlet is predeceased by her parents, Dewey & Grace Riden of Maryville, TN. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Frank, daughter Tracie Zaher, brother Charles (Marsha) Riden, and many nieces and nephews.
