
Sgt. Steven "Brent" Vaughn, 25, of Jacksonville, died Sunday, July 12, 2009, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Killeen, TX. Brent was born in Jacksonville, FL, on February 24, 1984. He was in the United States Army for six years and served in OIF1, OIF3 (Receiving the Purple Heart) & OIF5.Brent was preceded in death by his grandfather, Francis John Vaughn and his twin brother, Sydney Joseph Vaughn, Jr., great uncle. Survivors include his mother, Kelly Vaughn, sister, Amber Volkmann (Bryan), grandmother, Betty Metz (Harry); one aunt, Ginger Vaughn-Pennewell; two cousins, Christopher Vaughn-Pennewell (Jennifer) and Jonathon Vaughn-Pennewell; one nephew, Zachary Vaughn-Pennewell; two nieces, Zoey Vaughn-Pennewell and Avah Volkmann and a host of close friends who were his extended family.To say Brent was out-spoken would be an understatement. You always knew exactly what was on his mind. He was always the life of the party and the funniest person to be around.Brent loved tattoos, playing pool, driving fast, cracking jokes, hanging out with his friends and playing with his nieces and nephews. They thought he was the coolest (strangest) uncle on the face of the earth! He was extremely family oriented and had an abundance of love for all of his family members. There will be a viewing on July 17th Friday (TODAY) from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM with the service directly following. The viewing and service will take place at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home located at 940 Cesery Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32211.
