Shirley Elaine Caviness was born February 14, 1947 in Jacksonville, Florida and passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2022 in Orlando, Florida. She grew up in and was a longtime resident of Jacksonville where she worked for Famous Amos for many years. She loved nature, wildlife, the outdoors and putting her hands in the dirt, growing her plants and flowers.
Shirley moved to Eustis, Florida after she retired to be closer to her family. She enjoyed living in the country, watching deer, black bears, alligators and all the little critters of the country in her yard (snakes, not so much) and spending time tending to her plants and decorating her yard. She was a “tough” person that minded her own business and expected that of those around her. She loved her family and would protect them fiercely but under her tough exterior she had a loving and kind heart. She would send cards and give thoughtful gifts and always told those she loved; she loved them. She was loved by all her family, friends and neighbors and will be greatly missed.
Shirley is predeceased by her father and mother, Hardy Holland and Virginia Roberson; her brothers, Hardy Holland, Jr and Carl Holland; and her son, Shane Logan. She is survived by her brother, Jerry (Sarah) Holland; her sister,Sue (Jackie) Patterson; her son, Calvin (Karen) Patterson; her son, James Caviness; her two grandsons, Michael Logan and Luke Patterson; along with many more family and friends.
A graveside service for Shirley will be held Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at 1:30 PM at Greenlawn Cemetery, 4300 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207 with Pastor Richard Carney officiating.
