Shirley Arnold Jones

Shirley Arnold Jones, 74, passed away July 28, 2012 after losing her battle with cancer. Her loving family and friends were at her side throughout her illness. She was the daughter of the late Needham Thomas and Sarah Ellen (Fulford) Arnold of Sycamore, GA.

Shirley and her husband, Gene were avid gator fans and often traveled to Gainsville with friends to attend the games. She enjoyed reading and loved to travel, especially to visit with family and friends, but most of all loved to spend time with her two grandsons. Shirley attended Hunter Park Baptist Church.

She was retired from Bell South, and after her husband’s death, she became the owner of her husband’s business, Dixie Tire & Battery Co.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gene Jones, four brothers and three sisters.

Surviving are two daughters, Melissa “Missy” Strickland (Mike Adams)and Torie Breedlove (Mark), two grandchildren, Dillon and Drew Breedlove, a sister, Jean Hood (John), a host of nieces, nephews and cousins and many dear friends.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 4 at 11:00 am at Oaklawn Cemetery, 4801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville with Pastor Sarkis Baboyan officiating.

Memorials in her name may be directed to the American Cancer Society, Northeast Chapter.
