Shirley Darlene Tompkins passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 1st 2018 following a long struggle with breast cancer and heart disease. Born on June 18th, 1956 in Century, FL, Shirley was 61 years old when she died. She was a 1974 graduate of Pensacola Junior College. Shirley lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures- gardening, cooking, and chatting with friends and family. She was a loving mother and grandmother, dear sister, and aunt to those left behind to miss her dearly, but feel her everlasting spirit. She is preceded in death by her husband, David William Tompkins; parents, Queen Victoria Knowles and John Carlton Franklin; and sister, Ann Franklin Langford. Survived by three brothers and seven sisters, daughter, Kim (Alex Marks) Tompkins and son Tim (Arielle) Tompkins, grandchildren and nephews and nieces. Those whose lives were touched by Shirley Darlene are invited to the Ebenezer Church in Jay, FL on March 10th at 1:30 to reminisce, grieve, support each other and, of course, to celebrate life.
