Sondra "Sandy" Joan Steele Mihaly

Sondra “Sandy” Joan Steele Mihaly, 77, passed away May 29, 2015. Sandy was born August 29, 1937 in Springfield, OH. She later lived for many years in Stuart, FL before moving to Jacksonville, FL, most recently residing at Rivergarden Senior Services Center.

Sandy was a loving homemaker, former realtor and Avon lady with a love for creating beautiful paintings, traveling, good food and weekend garage sales. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family which included husband, Carl G. Mihaly (Deceased); daughter, Pam McGuffey and son-in-law, Bruce McGuffey and granddaughter, Shannon McGuffey; daughter, Peggy Mihaly and Keith Taylor; and sisters, Carol Steele Schwob (Deceased) and Cindy (Claar) Filbrun and parents, Russell Orin Steele (Deceased) and Marjorie Evelyn Packer Steele (Deceased).

It was always important to Sandy to do what she could to help others. Memorial contributions are encouraged to ILAB, (Independent Living for Adult Blind). Later in life, Sandy gradually lost much of her vision due to her battle with diabetes and ILAB helped her maintain her independence. ILAB is a community based rehabilitation program for those with vision problems.
