Sondra D. Speir

SPEIR - Sondra D. Speir passed away peacefully on July 7, 2021, at age 81, to join her husband in their heavenly home. She was a native and life-long resident of Jacksonville. Mrs. Speir was a member of Arlington Baptist Church where she was active with the Trailblazers and former member of Main Street Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister and always put others before herself. She was a member of Central Civitan Club and loved to volunteer with Baptist/Wolfson Children’s Hospital Auxiliary. She was also an avid fan and Booster Club member of the Florida Gators Football team.

Sondra was employed at the Federal Reserve Bank, First Union Bank, Bolles School (Bartram Campus) and devoted the rest of her time to assist her husband in his tax practice and continued volunteering at the Auxiliary.

Sondra is pre-deceased by her father and mother, William (Bill) and Jean Darden and husband, Edward Speir. She is survived by her son, David Speir; daughter Cheryl Womack and her husband, Wade; sister, Sue Elser; brother Robert (Bobby) Darden and his wife, Karen and grandchildren, Matthew and Sarah Womack and many other relatives and friends who loved her dearly.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 12, 2021, at Arlington Baptist Church. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to American Cancer Society or Arlington Baptist Church.
