

As a child, he began his lifelong love of family, Judaism, music and sports. He had an active childhood in Brighton Beach, New York and his leadership qualities and passions were evident in the extracurricular activities he participated in during his senior year at Lincoln High School- VP of his senior class, editor of the Sports desk of the Lincoln Log, President of the Senior Prefect and a member of the Choral group.
Following High School, Stan proudly served his country as a member of the Army National Guard.
After a two year courtship, he married Elaine Friedman on September 12, 1954. Elaine and Stan had two children, Philip and Seth. Also in 1954, Stan began a 37 year career with IBM.
Stan and his family moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 1967. They initially were members of Etz Chaim Synagogue and moved over to Congregation Ahavath Chesed (The Temple) in the early 1970s. As a member of The Temple, Stan was active in both Brotherhood and the Choir.
Stan was a role model father. He was an active supporter and best friend to Seth until Seth passed away in 2004. He actively supported the organizations Seth participated in, especially Pine Castle and Special Olympics.
Stan loved all the Florida sports teams, but most especially the Gators and Jaguars. However, he never forgot his New York roots and remained a Dodgers fan from their Brooklyn roots through their 2020 World Series championship. He also was an active tennis player and bowler for many years. He and Elaine also loved to travel and visited over 25 countries over the years.
Elaine and Stan lived their final years at Fleet Landing in Atlantic Beach. While at Fleet Landing, Stan was active in lawn bowling, Wee Bowling and theatrical shows. Along with Elaine, he helped bring celebrations of Jewish holidays to the residents.
Stan was preceded in death by his beloved Elaine in 2016. He lived his final years in Fleet Landing’s Health Center, where he actively participated in all activities, especially those involving music and exercise.
Stan is survived by his son, Philip (Donna). He had two grandchildren, Robyn and Alan and two great-grandchildren, James and Hazel.
We will celebrate Stan's life, and all that he meant to each of us, with a graveside service in accordance with his faith, in the King David Garden of Greenlawn Cemetery 4300 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, FL. 32207, on Tuesday, November 10th 2020 beginning at 11:00am.
In the spirt of social distancing and for the safety of all, attendees will be asked to wear a mask.
