Stephen Paul Summa
October 12, 1954 – June 8, 2018
Stephen Paul Summa, 63, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on June 8th, 2018 at Community Hospice in Jacksonville, FL.
Steve was born on October 12th, 1954 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, to Alice Summa and the late Frank Summa Sr. In high school he met the love of his life, Pat, and they married in 1977. He attended Penn State University and later moved to the Philadelphia area where he and Pat started their family and had 3 children. Steve worked for the Hoover Company, later Maytag, and was transferred to Orlando, FL in 1987 and three years later was transferred to Jacksonville, FL where he resided until his death.
Steve's greatest passions were his family and his faith. He loved spending time with his children and was actively involved in all of their activities. He was a Scoutmaster for many years, a baseball and soccer coach, and his children's biggest fan and supporter. Steve became a grandfather in 2016 and cherished every moment he was able to spend with his grandchildren. When he wasn't spending time with his family he was always helping others. Steve had a servant's heart and was always willing to help repair someone's roof, cut down trees, repair appliances or fix anything that needed attention. Steve enjoyed hiking and in his younger years was a member of a hiking/camping group called the HOGS (Hiking Old Geezers). They enjoyed many trips on the Appalachian Trail.
Steve will always be remembered for his kind spirit, outgoing nature, sense of humor and his ability to tell a great story.
Steve is survived by his wife Pat Summa; sons Christopher (Elise) Summa and Adam (Brenna) Summa; daughter Nicole Summa; mother Alice Summa; brothers Frank (Pam) Summa Jr. and David (Cheryl) Summa; and grandchildren Harper Quinn Summa and Tucker Clayton Summa. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Oreo.
