Steve was born in Lafayette, Indiana to Daniel and Rosalie and grew up in a happy family with four siblings. He was predeceased by his father and brother, Bruce.
Steve graduated Indiana State University with a degree in criminology. For 11 years Steve served with the Metro Dade Police Department. There were years as a homicide detective when he closed 100% of his cases. With the encouragement of Florida’s legal community, In 1984 he retired and became a private investigator, eventually opening Roadruck investigations Inc. There he quickly earned the reputation as one of the most sought after after investigators in Miami and gained national recognition for his exceptional work on many high profile cases.
As a man’s man, Steve was a leading member of the Miami Beach Rod and Reel Club and with a home on Biscayne Bay Steve spent many hours fishing the blue waters of South Florida and the Bahamas. With equal pleasure, he loved going home to Indiana to hunt and fish at his brother-in-law, Tim’s cabin in the woods.
In 2015 he and Christina and their German Shepherd Shogun opened a new chapter of their lives in Jacksonville. Steve was a faithful member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and served as the Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the 4th Degree Assembly. Active in the Men’s Club and the Mandarin Food Bank, Steve was always there to lend a helping hand with a smile and a generous heart. Many community members were the beneficiaries from Steve Roadruck’s good work.
Steve is survived by his wife, Christina, his niece Victoria Bonelli, of whom he was very proud for her service as a Captain and Pilot for U.S. Army Aviation, and his mother, Rosalie Roadruck.
