With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Steven Craig, who died peacefully on September 4, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on December 9, 1954 in Portland, ME, Steven lived a rich and thoughtful life shaped by curiosity, creativity, and genuine connection with others.
Steven had a lifelong passion for electronics and technology, always eager to learn how things worked and how they could be made better. Whether he was tinkering with circuit boards, repairing radios, or exploring the latest innovations, he found joy in solving problems and understanding the world on a deeper level. Learning was not just a pastime—it was a lifelong pursuit.
But more than his technical interests, Steven will be remembered for his deep love of people. He had a natural gift for conversation and a rare ability to truly listen. Whether speaking with an old friend or a complete stranger, he made others feel heard, valued, and respected. His humor, warmth, and intelligence made every interaction feel meaningful.
He was predeceased by his father Harland Craig and stepmother Sue Craig, brothers Richard Craig and Christopher Craig, and sister Terry Craig. Steven is survived by his wife Kathy Craig and son Jerry (Jean) Craig and also his sister Sally (Tom) Myrick and stepsister Pat (Dave) Alban, as well as two beloved cats, who will carry on his legacy of curiosity and compassion.
The family would like to thank Careplus for their diligence and assistance, and thanks Ascension St Vincent’s in Southpoint for their care and compassion.
Steven’s absence will be deeply felt, but the lessons he taught—about curiosity, kindness, and the value of people—will live on. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to support STEM research or the charity of your choice.
