

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Steven Calvin Gatewood who left us on May 23rd 2024. Steve was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, whose spirit touched the lives of many.
Born on October 12th 1955, Steve grew up with a deep love for music, especially the timeless tunes of The Rolling Stones. Their lyrics and melodies were a source of inspiration and solace throughout his life, echoing in the memories of those who knew and loved him. In addition to music, Steve had a passion for woodworking. After years of working in carpentry, he could be found building custom projects for his family and friends. While Steve’s time with us feels far too short, the impact he made will last forever.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Marjorie Gatewood. Steve is survived by his wife Vicki, daughter Delta [Tyrice], his cherished granddaughter Reign, his son Benjamin [Lauren], his siblings Helen, Teresa, and Michael, and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces. He also leaves behind countless friends and extended family members who will forever cherish his memory.
A celebration of Steve’s life will be held on June 28th at Oaklawn Cemetery at 11:00am. A reception will follow at 12:30 pm at Bella Sera - 919 King Street, Jacksonville, Fl 32204. As we reflect on Steve’s life, let us remember the words of The Rolling Stones: “You can’t always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you get what you need.” In our hearts, his melody will forever play on. Rest in peace, dear Steve. Your song continues in the lives of those you touched.
