Stewart M Lara, 52, passed away on March 10, 2021 in Jacksonville, Florida surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his loving wife Sylvia Lara (nee Han), his parents Mark and Shirley, his brother Harold, niece Valentina and nephew Sebastian, and countless family members and friends and can’t forget about his 2 furry babies Hans and Charly (Charlotte).
Stewart graduated from McKee Vocational HS in Staten Island, NY and Lincoln Tech in NJ. He then went on to change career paths and began to work in finance for almost 30 years. Over the years, Stewart worked for The Bank of New York, GE Capital, Hypovereins Bank and finally JP Morgan Chase as well as consulting for various other financial institutions. Stewart was born in New York, New York (a quintessential New Yorker). He grew up on Staten Island before moving into Manhattan where he was the prince of the city. Stewart loved to dine out with his friends and family and was highly sought out for advice on where to go for any event or cuisine. He was known to have a wealth of knowledge in almost any subject but was unequaled in modern politics and political history. His love of music and cinema spanned all global genres. From heavy metal to opera, and everything in between. From campy comedies to Bollywood but he especially enjoyed Korean cinema. A proud conservative, he volunteered for several local and national campaigns. He was a member of Mount Moriah Lodge #20 in New York, NY since 2012. Later in life, he grew fond of outdoor activities. He enjoyed fishing and shooting with his brother Harold. An unbreakable bond, they spent a lot of time together enjoying the simple things in life, especially cooking for family and friends. He was also a wine connoisseur and gave unparalleled advice on great bottles of wines. Stewart had a voracious appetite for knowledge and never stopped learning. His love and concern for his friends and family never ceased even while separated by long distances. And on top of all that, he had such unbelievable humor. He could make anyone laugh. But his favorite thing in the whole wide world was to be the fun, silly uncle to Valentina and Sebastian whom he loved and adored endlessly and they him.
Stewart met the love of his life, his soulmate, Sylvia Han while they both worked for JP Morgan Chase and were married in 2007 in Barbados. They resided in Manhattan before moving to Jacksonville, Florida in 2017.
