

Stuart Pruden Smith Moriarty died Sunday, August 15th in Jacksonville, FL, after a recent battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late Katherine Boyer Smith and William Pruden Smith of Biltmore Forest. She was born April 10th, 1939 in Asheville and was educated at St. Genevieve of the Pines, St. Mary’s in Raleigh, and the University of South Carolina. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Asheville and most recently of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Green Cove Springs, FL. A long time professional and volunteer with the American Red Cross, she lived and worked with the Red Cross in Germany and Spain, as well as in North Carolina, Texas, and Florida.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Katherine Smith Kinney, and by her husband, Commander Jack O. Moriarty. She is survived by her twin daughters Mary Stuart C. Cleary and Amanda C. Pinter of Jacksonville, FL; her son Terence B. Crouch and his husband Matthew Sokolowski of Washington, DC ; her sister Anne Gill Pullen of Jacksonville, FL; her niece Katherine Pullen West of Jacksonville, FL; her nephew Stuart W. Pullen of Raleigh, NC; and by six grand-children.
A Graveside Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, August 20th, in Evergreen Cemetery, (Gate 5), 4535 Main Street, Jacksonville, FL.
