
Susie Lee Price, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2009. Sue was born in Baker County, Georgia to Simmie Solomon and Nellie Calhoun Williams Mathis on November 12, 1916. After moving to Jacksonville and being a homemaker for some time, she held a career as a floral designer with American Beauty Florist for over 40 years. Of the original 27 charter members of Jacksonville's Calvary Baptist Church, she was the last survivor. She will be remembered for sweet nature, unwavering devotion to her faith and her church, remarkable work ethic, and deep affection for her family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Sterlie McCoy Price; brothers Kerby Mathis, Wilson Mathis (Flora); James Mathis (Eileen); brother-in-law Adam Russell; sisters Roma Edmonds (Neal), and Margie Starling (Pete). She leaves to cherish her legacy and memory daughter Debbie Miller (Don); son Don Price (Barbara); granddaughters, Tara (David), Leigh, and Donna; great-grandson Kirkland; sister, Eunice Russell; sister-in-law, Alagene Mathis; special friend Carolyn Simpson, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 4040 Dunn Avenue, on Tuesday, March 31, at 10:00 a.m., with funeral services immediately afterwards at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Riverside Memorial Park.
