Sylvester (Joe) Markey, age 84, passed away on February 17, 2015 at the Hadlow Center for Caring in Jacksonville, Florida. He was born on February 23, 1930 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana to Brooks and Agnes Markley.
Mr. Markley had been a resident of Jacksonville since 1984 coming from Ft. Wayne, Indiana.
Prior to retirement he worked for Joslyn Steel Co in Ft. Wayne for 20 years.
He served his country proudly during the Korean War in the U. S. Army.
Joe was pre-deceased by his loving wife of 52 years, Jeanette and his granddaughter Ellen.
He is survived by two sons, Walter Markley (Tina) of Millbrook, Alabama and John Markley (Teresa) of Newport News, Virginia. Three daughters, Patricia Havener of Denver, Colorado, Barbara Murray (Daniel) of Gainesville, Florida and Susanna Markley of Jacksonville, Florida. Also surviving is his brother Robert Markley of Phoenix, Arizona and five grandchildren, Heather, Andrea, Scott, Ken and Samantha and five great-grandchildren, Joseph, Lucas, Ryan, Thomas and Zachary.
A Memorial Service will be held in Ft. Wayne, Indiana at a later date.
