

Terrie Getzan Cason, born Terrie Lee Thompson on March 25, 1947, in Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2024, at her home in Jacksonville, Florida. Surrounded by her loving sons and dear friends, Terrie passed away gracefully to be with God after a long illness.
Terrie was predeceased by her parents, Alvin J. “Tommy” Thompson and Nellc Thompson, her first husband, Robert “Bob” Getzan, her second husband, Glynn “Casey” Cason, her infant brother Piera Thompson, her sister Nellene Roerig, her brother-in-law Mark Robertson, her nephew Aaron Roerig, and her niece Holly Roerig.
She is survived by her devoted sons, John E. Getzan and Robert “Robby” (Roberta)Getzan; her beloved grandchildren, Bobby Getzan and Madison Getzan; her sister, Vikky Robertson; her brother-in-law, Ronald Roerig; her nieces and nephew, Ronald Roerig Jr., Carol Raisch, Cori Provencio, Kristin Robertson, and Lisa Robertson; and many loving extended family members, too numerous to name.
Terrie spent her career with a heart full of care and love for others. She worked as a driver for Duval County School District and then for Purolator Courier Corporation before opening and operating Granny Terrie’s Day Care for 27 years. During this time, she cared for many children from newborns to age 5, nurturing them as if they were her own. She loved all her daycare babies deeply.
In her free time, Terrie enjoyed the simple pleasures of life—spending time suntanning at the beach with her friend Joyce Quann and dancing the night away at 57 Heaven. Her warm and caring nature will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Community Hospice & Palliative Care for their unwavering care and support during Terrie’s illness. Your compassion and kindness were truly a blessing.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at 10:00 AM in Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home. 850 St. Johns Bluff Rd. N. Jacksonville, FL 32225. Immediately following will be the memorial service and reception.
