

Genevieve Wooldridge, age 89, passed away on Friday, November 2, 2012. Her generous heart never wained, but her physical heart became too weak to go on. She was born in Iuka, Illinois and began her teaching career there in a one-room school. She married the love of her life, Velven Wooldridge, who survives. She moved to Merrillville, IN, raised a family, taught school (28 years), and provided leadership in several community organizations including the educational fraternities Phi Delta Kappa and Delta Kappa Gamma. She continued her life in Jacksonville, FL after retirement. Also surviving are daughters Linda DeHahn (South Bend, IN) and Nancy (Greg) Rogers (Jacksonville, FL); grandsons, Kevin (Katie) DeHahn (Chicago, IL), Matthew Rogers, and Samuel Rogers; and great-granddaughters Lucy and Amelia DeHahn. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, November 11, 2012 at Mandarin United Methodist Church, 11270 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL. Donations in her memory can be directed at the Share Circle at the church.
