

Theodore W. Michalowski, 95, entered eternal rest on Mon. Jan. 5, 2015. He was born in Norwich, CT on Feb. 27, 1919 to the late Walter and Mary (Jaczynski) Michalowski. Ted spent most of his life in Norwich before moving to Davenport, IA where he resided for almost 25 years. He spent the last five years of his life in Jacksonville, FL to be with his daughter and her family. He was a Staff Sargent and tank commander in WWII. He landed in Normandy on D-Day as part of the Third Armored Division and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. After the war he was employed by Lehigh Gas Company in sales and management until retiring in 1984. He was also a lector in his home Catholic Church and enjoyed working with the Youth Organization as a basketball coach and Boy Scout leader. Ted is survived by his daughter, Mary Kassel (Scott); grandchildren, Brian Kassel (Emily), Kristine Kassel Dippel (Scott), and Allison Kassel; great-grandchildren, Colin Dippel, Caroline Dippel, Zachary Kassel, Lila Kassel; sister, Jessie Michalowski; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ted’s name to the Wounded Warrior’s Project. Services are pending at this time.
