BARNES, Thomas Edward Barnes, 81, passed away Monday, July 2, 2012. Mr. Barnes was a member of Cedar Bay Baptist Church, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, July 6 with Pastor Bill Tyler officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date at Jacksonville National Cemetery. Mr. Barnes retired from the U.S. Navy following 20 years of service and was a Korean War veteran. He also retired from Independent Life Insurance Company after 25 years of service. Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Martha Barnes; 6 children: Bill Tarry (Sharon), Rhonda Yoder (Gregg), Mary Jean Ruel (Jim), Kevin Barnes, Karen Davis (Jon) and Jennifer Barnes (Trish); 1 sister, Becky King; 1 brother, Jim Barnes (DeAna); 9 grandchildren; 2.5 great grandchildren; and many other loving family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday (TODAY) at COREY-KERLIN FUNERAL HOME, 1426 Rowe Ave. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made in Mr. Barnes’ memory to Cedar Bay Baptist Church, 11553 N. Main St., Jacksonville., FL 32218.
