
CERMACK………….Thomas F. Cermack, 80, surrounded by his family, passed away peacefully at his home in Jacksonville, Florida on May 28, 2008. Mr. Cermack is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Anne (nee McElwee).The Philadelphia, Pennsylvania native, a son of the late Edward and Helen Cermack, had resided with his family in Jacksonville for the last 25 years. Mr. Cermack was a man of faith who always placed God, church and family first and foremost in his everyday life. A veteran of the United States Army, and graduate of LaSalle College, Mr. Cermack later rose to prominence in the transportation and shipping industry. During his distinguished career, Mr. Cermack traveled the world touching the lives of all he met. Some people light up a room by their presence, others light up the people in the room. Just such a man was Tom Cermack. Tom was an avid golfer and fanatical Notre Dame supporter who passed on the love of both to his children and grandchildren. In addition to his wife Anne, he is survived by four daughters, Barbara Lutke, Mary Grace Flagler (Gary), Patricia Shaughnessy (Kevin), and Kathleen Cermack; and four sons, Thomas Cermack, Jr., Sam Cermack (Lisa), John Paul Cermack, and Daniel Cermack (Kristine); three sisters, Mary Ellen Verdeur, Helen Hughes (John), and Veronica McGrath; one brother, Edward Cermack (Joan); sixteen precious grandchildren, Meghan Cermack, Sean Lutke, Noelle Lutke, Daniel Cermack, Matthew Cermack, Samantha Cermack, Hannah Cermack, Ryan Flagler, Darby Flagler, Kelly Flagler, Jack Shaughnessy, Morgan Shaughnessy, Thomas Cermack, James Cermack, Ethan Cermack, and Regan Cermack; as well nearly fifty nieces and nephews. Mr. Cermack was predeceased by both his son, James Cermack, and his sister, Catherine Coyne. The family will receive friends at Corey - Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd. from 6 PM until 8 PM on Monday, June 2, 2008 with the Rosary being recited at 7 PM. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 AM, Tuesday, June 3rd at Resurrection Catholic Church, 3383 University Blvd. N., with Msgr. Vincent J. Haut officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, 3383 University Blvd., Jacksonville, Florida 32277.
