Thomas Wenton Goodman, age 88 went home to be with the Lord on Thursday March 14, 2019. He was born in Raleigh, North Carolina July 26, 1930 and moved to Duval County as a young man. He attended Andrew Jackson High school, where he met the love of his life Dorothy Mae. They married June 24, 1948 and spent a wonderful life together. Thomas was a devoted family man and employee. Tommy’s family was always his number one priority. He retired from working for Bellsouth in 1990 after 40 years of service without missing a day. Tommy’s love for family and his work ethic was an inspiration to all who knew him. Tommy was affectionately known as “Big Buddy” by those who mattered the most. Tommy was a committed member of the Pioneers and CWA. He enjoyed fishing, sports, and spending time at his river home in Hasting where he hosted his semi-annual fish fry for his friends and fellow Southern Bell retirees. Preceded in death by his loving wife Dorothy and son Tommy. Survived by his children: JoAnn Goodman, Tammie McClain and son-in law Gene McClain. His grandchildren: Amy Goodman, Jason Chack and wife Melissa, and Tiffanie McClain. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Community Hospice for their support and loving care.
