Thomas Deane Olivent

Mr. Olivent was born to the late Henry Herman Olivent and Lois Strickland Olivent (Cassels) on 11/9/1939 in Albany, Ga. After graduating from Albany Highschool, Mr. Olivent went on to serve his country for four years in the Navy and after that, two years in the Army Reserves. After discharging from the service, he went to work for the railroad operated by Seaboard Coastline until their merger with CSX. He was employed by CSX until his retirement. During his time with the railroad, he was occasionally called upon to be the Conductor of the Amtrak passenger train. In his retirement, Mr. Olivent began pursuing his pilots license and began working on small aircraft as a mechanic.

In his younger years his hobbies were boating and fishing. In later years he continued to boat off and on and enjoyed riding his daughters down the St Johns River. After moving to Callahan, he enjoyed going to breakfast at The Golden Coral with his buddies from the Railroad. One of his favorite pastimes was aggravating the family dog Pocco.

Mr Olivent lived to serve his Lord and Savior. After several moves, he settled at Gray Gables Baptist Church in Callahan, Fl, where he attended faithfully.

Mr. Olivent is preceded in death by his parents Herman Olivent, Lois Olivent (Cassels), his beloved wife Jacqueline K Olivent, Stepdaughter Pam Long. He is survived by his sister Wanda Olivent Proctor, daughters Carol (Randy) Cochran, Anita Smith, Stepchildren Angie (Greg) Burkhalter, Cindy (Steve) Jessee, John (Paula) Hatcher, grandchildren: James Powell, Jonathon (Taylor) Powell, Kristen (James) Melvin, Michael Olivent, Elizabeth Olivent, Tony Smith, Multiple grandchildren by marriage, multiple great grandchildren, two nieces and many cousins.

A visitation for Thomas will be held Thursday, May 29, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32211, followed by a Celebration of Life. We will go in procession to his committal service at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
