Timothy "Tim" James Kennedy

Timothy James “Tim” Kennedy was called from this life and into the peace of Christ on December 31, 2025, in Jacksonville, surrounded by his family. He was born on May 10, 1950, also in Jacksonville, to Thomas E. and Elinor (Abel) Kennedy.

Tim graduated from Wolfson High School in 1968. Later that year, he was united in marriage to Catherine Annita Peterson, with whom he spent 41 happy years before she passed in 2007. In 2018, he married his cherished second wife, Janet Frazier, who survives him.

As a young man, Tim served in the U.S. Air Force as a Military Police officer, with service at Twentynine Palms and in Panama. An avid runner throughout his life, Tim ran in several marathons and in the River Run 15K. He served as maintenance director at San Juan Del Rio Catholic Church in Fruit Cove from its establishment in 1976 until 2001, where he helped grow the church into what it is today. He later served as maintenance director at Holy Family until his retirement.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Annita; his sister, Kathy Lyons; his brother, Kevin Paul Kennedy; and his brothers-in-law, Mike Kirtley and Dean Lyons.

He is survived by his wife, Janet; his children, Melissa “Missy” (Jason) Chisholm, Aaron (Pamela), and Sarah; his grandsons, Caleb, Tanner, and Colton; his stepdaughters, Calley “Andi” (John) Robinson and Blair Wood (Joel) Kennedy; his step-grandson, Ryder; his sister, Judy Kirtley; his brothers, Mike (Pat) and Terry (Carla); his brother-in-law, Frank (Sandy) Peterson; and his many beloved nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Hardage-Giddens Mandarin Chapel, 11801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32223, from 5pm until 7pm. The Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at San Jose Catholic Church, 3619 Toledo Rd A, Jacksonville, FL 32217, at 11am. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery, 4801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207.
