Tom graduated from Englewood High School in 1965 and earned his Associate of Arts in Graphic Design from St. Johns River Jr. College in 1967. He was a 40-year employee of Fenwick Plumbing and loved his job. Tom loved his family above all things, and enjoyed going out to dinner with his family and friends. He adored his dog, Sandy, and his flowers, plants, and birds. He was a life-long amateur astronomer and star-gazer with a love and interest in NASA and the space program, and he rarely missed a launch or meteor shower. He loved and studied all things in the night sky. Tom had a passion for 50s and 60s music and a talent for playing guitar. He took great pride in his Harley and loved to ride. He loved to travel and make memories with his wife, Cheryl; he was especially fond of his trips to Alaska, or to amusement parks with great roller coasters with his family. He was a collector of fossils, an avid reader, and a Jaguars season ticket holder since season one.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Overfield, and his mother, Helen Pitt Overfield. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 50 years Cheryl (Eller); son Tom, Jr. (Toni), son Tim (Carolyn), daughter Amy Moseley (Steve); grandchildren Jordan Cutler (Stephen), Ashley Moseley, Zachary Overfield, Hannah Overfield, Shane Moseley, and Noah Moseley; three great grandchildren — Jordan and Stephen’s children, Kylie, Kaeden, and Kinsley; his brother Joel (Sandra Trippe), brothers-in-law Mike Eller (Tonya) and Ronnie Eller, and loving nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.
Officiant will be his brother-in-law, Pastor Mike Eller of Douglas, Georgia.
